Visualized: Which Party Shut the Government Down More?

Today we look at the breakdown of government shutdowns by party. When a government shutdown happens it’s the minority party causing the shutdown when the majority party doesn’t have a super majority meaning it’s the minority party that typically causes these shut downs.
When it comes to total shutdowns we found that Democrats edged out Republicans.
We also counted the total days of shutdowns. On average Democrat shutdowns were much longer, typically 11 times longer on average.
